The Price of VIP ProgramsI don't want to call anybody out and make somebody look bad, so I'll keep this post generic. There was a recent article about a player who sacrificed their time (a lot of it) to make it so a high VIP level on a popular site. That player got some perks including trips and I'm sure plenty of semi-free products of his choice.
Sounds awesome right?
I wondered how much he gave up in salary by taking months off of work to do this. That led me to wonder how much he made at the tables in addition to the great perks. I looked him up on one of my new favorite sites for tracking players and found out that he lost about $16K. Hmmm...
So he lost about $16K and who knows how much in wages, but he did get plenty of perks. That reminds of some popular players that are respected by the newbies that are in fact losing players. Just because somebody plays a lot doesn't mean they're good. Just because they're multi-tabling doesn't mean they're good.
Also don't forget that great players get distracted or just have bad nights....and bad luck, so don't be intimidated when you see a popular player across the table from you or one that has special icons on their names for frequent play.
So, get out there and take it to 'em.
