Programming NoteThe new show "Face the Ace" debuts Saturday on NBC (9pm ET). Contestants will face FTP pros headsup for up to $1M. They pick one of three doors from which a pro emerges to play the contestant. If the contestant wins, they can walk away with $40K or choose to play another pro for $200K. They have the same option one more time if they beat the second pro but for a cool million.
The show is hosted by Steve Schirripa, joined by Poker After Dark's Ali Nejad and Deal or No Deal's Megan Abrigo. It is nice to see FTP getting more exposure on national television. That should drive a few more living room poker players towards their computers for deposits.
If the amatuer/contestant is smart, they'll attempt to play fast and loose and get into some 50/50 or even 40/60 rather than getting slowly out-played and embarrassed. I predict Ferguson will be on the first show and if not, then at least Lederer.
Speaking of which, how do you think the Thanksgiving discussion this year will go? Howard: "You done with the Ultimate Bet site yet?"
Annie: "Howard, you always think you're better than me!"
Howard: "Well, I am"
Annie: "Hellmuth has more talent than you!"
